Review of the Imilab EC3 Lite camera, an affordable way to monitor the outdoors in 2K

The IMILAB EC3 Lite outdoor camera offers 3MP/2K high-definition resolution and H.265 compression to cut bandwidth and storage usage in half. It has two floodlights and three color night vision modes, allowing automatic switching from infrared surveillance to color surveillance, as well as switching on the floodlights when motion is detected.

In addition to these features, it offers two-way calling, AI human detection, customizable siren, instant alarm, IP66 weather resistance, and multiple storage options, including local storage on Micro SD or a cloud storage, while being compatible with Alexa and Google assistants.

A simple, quick configuration within everyone’s reach

Working with the Imilab application, this outdoor camera connects to your WiFi network very simply, provided it is on a 2.4 GHz band (if this is not the case, do not hesitate to do so). setting in the interface of your Internet box, because many connected devices work like this).

Delivered with everything needed to attach it to a wall or any wall, the camera is as resistant to splashes of water as it is to temperature variations. Its Micro SD card slot and its Reset button are also located under a screwed cover, to avoid exposure to external aggressions.

It works in Plug and Play, always with the aim of simplifying its use. So that the presence of a cable is not a handicap, the manufacturer delivers a 3 meter power supply with the product.

Ultra wide angle and 1080 pixels: an ultra sharp image in all situations

The Imilab EC3 Lite camera has a 1080p lens and infrared night light allowing satisfactory visibility up to 15 meters. Even without zooming, you benefit from very good visibility of the filmed part and rather appreciable image quality.

Day view

In addition, the choice of a 270° ultra wide angle sensor further improves the user experience: the field of vision is wide enough to monitor a large space.

In clear weather or at night or even in the rain, the device continues to operate without any problem, in particular thanks to the solidity of its high protection shell.

Better targeted surveillance thanks to artificial intelligence

Like many recent cameras, the Imilab EC3 Lite model is boosted by artificial intelligence. Capable of analyzing the human form independently, the camera sends you notifications only when something really relevant to observe is happening. This way, you avoid being disturbed by the movement of tree leaves or animals, for example.

For an even more complete user experience, this HDR-compatible outdoor surveillance camera features two-way audio. With it, you can hear what's happening, but also communicate with people close to the camera.

Imilab: an interesting offer, but still room for improvement

Very close to the Mi Home application in its interface, Imilab communicates on a cloud offer to store videos... But at the time we are testing this product, the cloud is not yet available.

Subscriptions currently available

However, we can see the planned subscription prices: €1.99 per week, €5.99 per month or €59.99 per year.

Currently, storing your videos remains possible without subscription, by simply inserting an SD card of up to 64 GB in the space provided for this purpose.

Imilab EC3 Lite: our opinion

Quite interesting given its price and the diversity of its functionalities, this camera will offer you even more pleasant use as the Imilab application evolves and improves. It remains an excellent compromise if you want to monitor an outdoor space reliably without spending too much, with an attractive price below €80.
